Intertwining footage shot in Algiers, screenshots, voice-over and music, “The Gold” is an artist film about “the wanderers”—women from oppressed backgrounds, often widowed or divorced— who have created an underground gold market by selling their dowry. They have turned into tough business-women whose only goal is to make a living without falling into emotional chasm.
