This book narrates the biography of the famous singer Mohamed Abdul Muttalib through a close tracking of all mentions of him in Egyptian as well as Arab newspapers and periodicals. A clear picture is drawn of the nature of the community and artistic life in Egypt during the first half of the twentieth century. Also included are a collection of rare photographs as well as a transcription of the totality of the singer’s recordings and discs.
