Ala Younes is a visual artist whose practice is deeply rooted in research, encompassing exhibition and film curating, artistic collaborations, and publishing projects. Ala's work lies at the intersection of archives, modernity, visual culture, and architecture, as she investigates how historical narratives are constructed and how built environments shape social and political dynamics. 

Ala is the co-founder and co-director of "Kayfa ta," an independent initiative dedicated to research, exhibitions, and publishing. In 2013, she curated Kuwait’s inaugural pavilion at the Venice Biennale. She went on to co-curate the Berlinale Forum Expanded from 2021 to 2024 and served as co-artistic director of the 2022 Singapore Biennale. Ala has also held key institutional roles, including Artistic Director of the Academy of the Arts of the World in Cologne, Research Fellow at al Mawrid: Arab Center for the Study of Art at NYU Abu Dhabi, and Artistic Director of Darat al Funun – The Khalid Shoman Foundation.
