Mohamad Al Rashi is a Syrian actor and director. His career, spanning over two decades, began at the National Theater in Damascus, where he performed in productions such as Nights of Scheherazade (1995) and The Tramway of Desire (1998). Mohamad also performed in the staged adaptation of The Emigrants (2008) which was adapted into a film in 2011 with the same cast.
On the international stage, Mohamad performed in Gilgamesh (2000) and While I Was Waiting (2016) — both of which were presented at the Avignon Festival and toured theaters across Europe and beyond. As a theater director, his work includes Steps (1999), Chronicles of a City We Never Knew (2019) and Up There (2022).
Mohamad has also collaborated on several theater initiatives. In 2009, he co-founded the Damascus Theater Lab with Oussama Ghanam and Dima Abazah. And since 2017, he has collaborated with the German-based Collective Ma’louba, most recently on The Long Shadow of Alois Brunner.
