Documentary Film - 2023
Sara Ishaq is a Yemeni-Scottish filmmaker. She received an Academy Award nomination and  BAFTA New Talent's Award nominations for her debut short documentary Karama Has No Walls (2012), while pursuing an MFA in film directing at the Edinburgh College of Art. Her second documentary feature The Mulberry House (2013) premiered at IDFA and was released theatrically and aired on Al Jazeera English. 

Ishaq is developing her first fiction feature, The Station, which was presented at L’Atelier at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. She also is currently in post-production for a feature documentary which was selected for the Sundance Production fund in 2023. 

In 2017, Ishaq co-founded Comra Academy, a film foundation focused on creative film training in Yemen. In 2022, she joined the International Coalition for Filmmakers at Risk in Amsterdam and, in 2023, became the organization's managing director.
