A prominent Egyptian Professor, born in 1944, he obtained his PhD from the Arabic Department at the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University with first honor distinction in 1973 He lectured at various universities and was appointed head of Egypt’s National Center for Translation, General Secretary of the Higher Council for Culture, and the director of the Arabic Department at the Faculty of Literature at Cairo University. He is member of many literary associations and a jury member for literary prizes in Egypt and the Arab world. Asfour has received several awards for his accomplishments.
