Profile

A Lebanese film director and writer. He is best known for his award winning film West Beyrouth in 1998 which screened at Cannes’ Director’s Fortnight and won the FIPRESCI award. Before starting his filmmaking career, he worked under Quentin Tarantino as camera assistant for films that include Jackie Brown, From Dusk Till Dawn, Pulp Fiction, and Reservoir Dogs. He directed Lila Says in 2004 which competed in the Sundance Film Festival, and The Attack in 2012 which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the Special Jury Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain and the Golden Star at the Marrakesh Film Festival.
