AFAC’s cinema funding is open to all kinds of film projects – short films, feature narratives, short documentaries, feature documentaries, animation and experimental film. AFAC offers funding for development/scripting, production and post-production. Projects applying for a development/ scripting grant are eligible for a maximum of $15,000 while projects applying for a production/ post-production grant are eligible for a maximum of $50,000.
Notable filmmakers, directors and producers from across the Arab region have been invited to be members of AFAC’s cinema juror committees.

As part of its 2017 general grants program, AFAC launched its cinema open call on May 1st, 2017.
The call is open to Arab directors and producers living in the Arab region or in the diaspora. A non-Arab producer can apply for a grant provided that the film director is Arab. It is preferred that film projects applying to the production and post production grants have producers attached to them.
Cinema applications must be submitted online no later than August 1st, 2017. The results will be announced in November 2017. Applications can be submitted in either Arabic or English.
