The Lebanese Divas of the Fourties
In the forties of the last century, many Lebanese singing voices emerged, most notably those that shined in Egypt. Cinema preserved some of these great artistic products it, but the bulk of it came into oblivion and today is unknown. Who are those forgotten artists? What remained of their output? These questions remain open pending the study that explores and documents this era.
Documenting the life of Fleifel Bros
This project aims to document the lives of the brothers Fleifel who contributed a great deal to the Arab musical heritage in their composition of patriotic, military, educational, social, religious songs and operettas for various Arab countries. Not much light has been shed on their musical work. The project aims to publish a book that fills some of this gap by documenting their lives and musical works as well as producing a four-volume disc set (CDs) including a selection of their compositions.
The Arabic Music Library
The Arabic Musical Library is an effort to conserve the Arab musical heritage by collecting and archiving musical work, original compositions, artists pictures, recordings, research papers and articles. As a result, a library of 4,300 LPs and 405 tapes is being digitalized and made available to the public.
