AFAC is pleased to announce that the Robert Bosch Stiftung awarded Ghassan Halwani, Visual Arts grantee (2013) a Film Prize for his animation film project “Clean Up The Living Room We’ve Got Visitors Coming”. The German-Lebanese co-production is set in Beirut and explores the painful issue of people who disappeared during the Lebanese Civil War. Halwani, the director of the film, who shares the prize with his German producer Inka Dewitz received the award – one of three bestowed – at a ceremony held in the frame of Berlinale Talents on February, 8th 2015. The prize comes with a prize money of €70,000, which will go toward the funding of the film project.
The jury believed in the highly creative approach to an extremely complex subject, told from a very intimate point of view through a veritable archeological search of the bright and murky layers of Beirut’s history into the present time.
