AFAC-supported film ATLAL by Djemal Kerkar received the FIRST FILM PRIZE at the 27th Festival International de Cinema Marseille - FIDMarseille. Atlal is a documentary film that sheds light on Algeria’s Ouled Allal, an area ravaged by war during the 90s. Kerkar’s film also received two special mentions from the Institut Francais Award of the International Online Film Critic and the GNCR Prize of the Festival.
Parallel to the official competition, the 8th edition of FIDLab, FIDMarseille’s international co-production platform for film projects at any stage, concluded on July 16th with the distribution of 7 awards among 5 film projects out of the 11 projects that constituted the Lab selection for this year. Two AFAC-supported projects received three awards: Basma Al Sharif’s Ouroboros (Palestine) won the Panavision / Air France Award (10,000 Euros) and Commune Image Award which grants the winning project 8 weeks of editing; Alaeddine Slim’s The Last of Us (Tunisia) won the Video de Poche Award which offers the winner a DCP of the film.
