Darat Al Funun (The Khalid Shoman Foundation) Amman, features the new exhibition of AFAC’s 2008 visual arts grantee Saba Innab.
he exhibition, which was launched on Oct. 11th 2011 and will remain open until Jan. 5th 2012, will be showing two of Innab’s new projects. On-longing, funded by AFAC, analyses the multilayered contradictions within the city of Amman. No-Sheep’s Land reflects Innab’s experience working at the reconstruction of Nahr El Bared refugee camp in Lebanon and tries to tackle the meaning of land through a series of paintings illustrating utopian solutions to the dilemma of “how to build without land.” On November 1st, Innab will also give a talk about her exhibition and her research about the City of Amman at 6:30 pm in Darat Al Funun.
Along with Innab’s exhibition, Darat al Funun is also featuring a photography exhibition by Lebanese photographer Fouad Khoury. Entitled Amman, it is a collection of photos taken by Khoury in 1987 when he was commissioned by the Arab World College in Paris to photo-shoot the city.
