Prince Claus Awards Mroueh

Through an informal ceremony at Ashkal Alwan Home Workspace, Rabih Mroueh was announced winner of the 2011 Prince Claus Award yesterday (March 15, 2012) in the presence of the Lebanese Minister of Culture, The Dutch ambassador in Lebanon, the Price Claus Fund representative and a big crowd of friends and colleagues. The Prince Claus awards are presented annually to individuals, groups and organizations from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean for their outstanding achievements in the field of culture and development. Lebanese visual and performance artist Rabih Mroueh was awarded for his radical interrogation of memory, power and the constructs of truth as presented in his interactive and unique lecture performances.

 

Another recipient of the Prince Claus Award this year is former AFAC RTR grantee Riwaq Centre for Architectural Conservation, recognized for its dedicated work to protect the cultural and architectural heritage of Palestine.
