The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture announced today the extension of Crossroads deadline through the launching of a second cycle for projects’ submissions that will close on April 12, 2012. The aim of this second cycle is to accommodate more film projects and accompany the changing reality in the Arab world.
The vision for Crossroads springs from this period of transformation which is creating decisive moments in contemporary Arab history, and aims at supporting emerging Arab filmmakers who are exploring the nuances and frontiers of these new possibilities. Crossroads is concerned with projects that are inspired by this period of transformation, and that deal with critical topics dear to filmmakers who are discovering fertile grounds for innovation, creativity and experimentation amidst the upheavals of the region.
Crossroads supports film projects of all categories (fiction features, feature-length documentaries, fiction shorts, experimental films, animation etc…) in the development stage and will accompany these projects from development to production, post-production, promotion and distribution, providing both financial and professional support.
Crossroads’ jury is currently evaluating the applications that were received during the first cycle for call for proposals that was launched in September 2011 and will select during the coming weeks the first batch of projects to receive Crossroads grants. Meanwhile, the jury will continue to assess new applications coming in during the three next months.
