2015 was another busy and fruitful year for AFAC. In our 9th year of operation, we moved offices from Hamra to Gemmayze in Beirut, hosted a successful cultural week in New York and one in Egypt, and conducted a field trip to Sudan while we carried on with our core grant-making work. Our grantees continue to produce bold and impactful works that go on to win prestigious prizes at international film festivals and cultural events. A typical example would be the Syrian filmmaker Ossama Mohammad (Silvered Water, Syria Self-Portrait) who received the Prince Claus Award. Another celebrated artist at festivals around the world was Ely Dagher for his Palme d’Or winner Waves ’98.
