La Calima is a hauntological survey of the relationship between neoliberalism, nationalism, environmentalism and state through the frame of Sudan’s ongoing gold rush. It follows Mozamel and Al Amin through the mines of the Red Sea Hills at a key moment where natural resources are the least of the government’s concerns, post-revolution. It is a counter-measure to the formulaic conception of the life cycle of a revolution.
