In search for new stages and forums for art, l’Hal9a Beta 1.0 explores the traditional “halqa” as a means to explore liminality, hybridity, and postcolonial agency. Within the paradoxical parameters of appropriating and disappropriating Western models, the “halqa” constitutes an improvisational and self-reflexive space for experimentation. The project consists of a residency and a series of street performances.
