In Elephantine, Maurice Louca guides a 12-piece ensemble through a 38-minute panoramic masterwork. Elements of free improvisation, Sun Ra’s cosmic jazz, gorgeous Arabic melody, trancelike African and Yemeni music and minimalism meet in a unique compositional vision. After touring in Europe in 2019, the live nine-piece band gears up to premiere Elephantine in Arab cities in spring 2020.
