Learning from the sidewalk: 1001 Street Chairs in Cairo explores the urban dynamics of a growing megalopolis through the lens of an overlooked object. Structured around a series of walks, this project is a photographic documentation of street chairs supplemented by interviews with their users. The recent expansion of Cairo has run parallel to a proliferation of consumer goods in its public spaces. Omnipresent street chairs are one of the city’s defining fixtures.
