Women - 89

"Women-89" is a dance performance based on the personal stories of three women who experienced the bloody events between the Arabs and the Zanj in Mauritania in 1989, and who lost a lover, son, husband or brother. The memories of the three women intersect with that of the shattered homeland. Through the "physical" narrative, the pain becomes one and so does the hope. The women tell bitterly the experience of loss, and carve a memory of common pain into the memory of the homeland.
