Ameen Abo Kaseem

Ameen Abo Kaseem is a Palestinian-Syrian documentary photographer and cinematographer living in Damascus. He graduated in 2023 from the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts where he studied visual arts. Ameen started working with photography in 2016 as a way to communicate and express himself. His work focuses on himself and his family, friends, and community, looking at toxic lifestyles and methods of survival. He is also currently working on his first cinematic debut. His first project “How was everything, before all this ruin?”, received a mentorship and a grant from AFAC and won the First Place in POY Asia 2023. His second project “My short-term memory”, received a production grant from Ettijahat, and his debut short film, “As we cross to the other side of the garden”, was funded by Südkulturfonds. Ameen also participated in group exhibitions such as “An expression of absence” at Magnum Foundation & BDC in New York, Fondazione Imago Mundi in Italy, Ked in Beirut, and others.
